Autoimmune Disease


 

Autoimmune disease is an illness that occurs when the body tissues are attacked by its own immune system.  This disease can affect many parts of your body including your nerves, muscles, endocrine system, and digestive system.  A person may have more than one autoimmune disease at the same time.  Examples of autoimmune diseases are Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, Dermatomyositis, Polymyositis and Sjögren's syndrome, scleroderma and vasculitis.
